A little life update — and where the brand is now
Happy Sunday! It’s mid-August, and it feels a bit like the start of a new school year. Many of us are squeezing in trips or catching up on travel before routines change, and that “back-to-school” energy always puts me in a learning mood — lately, most of my learning has been about fabrics.
One of the things I enjoy most is browsing fabrics — in stores, online, or through swatches in the mail. Over time, I’ve built up quite a collection at home. Some have been used in projects, others are still waiting for the right idea. 😄

Recently, I’ve been reading more about where fabrics come from. I’m similar to most of you on the sustainable fashion journey — still discovering new things. Right now, I find myself learning simply from spotting a little trademark symbol next to a fabric brand name and then looking it up.
That’s how I discovered SEAQUAL, an initiative that turns marine litter into recycled polyester. The process starts with collecting plastic waste from oceans and coastlines, cleaning and sorting it, breaking it into flakes, melting it down, and spinning it into new fibers. The result keeps the durability and quick-dry qualities of regular polyester, but with a much smaller environmental impact.

When I think about fabrics for future designs, I look for ones that hold up in everyday life — fabrics that won’t snag easily, resist wrinkles even after being packed in a suitcase, can handle a few washing cycles without losing their shape, and still feel comfortable in warm weather or layered in cooler months. It sounds like a lot of requirements, even though they’re really just the basics of what makes clothing easy to wear. But I’ve started to find some promising fabrics, and I’m excited to keep exploring.
What about you — what’s something new you’ve been discovering lately?
